Create a Safe Work Environment with Moisture Separators
Compressed air is used in a variety of industries – pneumatic tools, food beverages, plastics, and power generation to name a few. Compressed air’s biggest foe is moisture. If moisture is not removed during the manufacturing process, it can corrode metallic parts like pipelines and also damage the product itself.
Moisture separators are the answer to this problem. A well-known manufacturer of moisture separators is Didion Separators. A division of Didion’s Mechanical, Didion Separators specializes in manufacturing a complete range of moisture separators.
The standard products are designed to remove 99% of moisture droplets 10 microns and above. Internal elements within the separators clean the air or gas flow of moisture droplets, eliminating their harmful effects.
Among the many products that are marketed by the company, the following three are perfect for natural gas separation:
These standard units are designed with 1/16″ corrosion allowance, making the them fit for many years of service. The internal elements are made from stainless steel, increasing the longevity of the units.
Type DSL Separators:
- This series will work in the vertical down and horizontal flow designs.
- A broad range of loads and applications are designed for both types.
- The outer vessel and components such as nozzles and couplings are crafted out of carbon steel.
Type DST Separators:
- This is an exclusive horizontal in line separator design.
- This design can handle a larger liquid flow than the DSL series, when the DSL is operated in the horizontal flow position.
- The main vent is located at the top center of the separator.
Type DSU Separators:
- This is an exclusive vertical up-flow in line separator design.
- The main vent is located on the right side of the separator towards the top.
- Like the vertical DSL, the drain is located at a 45o angle on the left side.
All separators have an efficiency rate for removing entrained liquids of 99% of all droplets 10 microns and greater. Custom designs are available for better efficiencies. The separators are certified to ASME Section VIII, Div. 1. These units are also available in a variety of alloys besides carbon and stainless steel.
With moisture separators, you can look forward to safe and uninterrupted service.
